The Halloweeen Night - download as a pdf

“Trick-or-Treat,” I said as I came down the stairs. “Great Costume, Matt. What are you suppose to be, a banker?” said my jerky teenage brother, Jacob. “Very funny,” I replied, disgustedly. I was suppose to be a monster and my costume had a lot of green in it. I thought it wasn’t too shabby myself. “I am going over to get Gabe and then after we trick-or-treat, the three of us are going to watch that horror movie, right?” I asked my brother. “Sure, I guess,” mumbled Jacob, not seeming to be too interested in watching a movie with his little brother and his friend.
“Ten minutes later, my best friend, Gabe Williams, and I were off to our first house. Both of us were ten years old and our moms had told us this was to be our last time to go trick-or-treating. Gabe had dressed up as a football player, Barry Sanders.
“Talking and joking as we walked around our neighborhood, we came upon a house that left us both silent. “Wow, that house looks creepy. I don’t remember that house being in our neighborhood,” I said with a slight sense of uncertainty. “Hey, it’s more candy, right?” replied Gabe very reassuringly. The house was beat up with most of its white paint missing and several windows were broken. The scariest part was that the people walking ahead of us had gone up to the front door, into the house and didn’t seem to be coming back out! “Uh, Matt, did you see the people in front of us?” asked Gabe. “Uh-yeah, but I don’t see them anymore.” I replied, with a hoarse-like whisper. “AHHHHHGGGGG,” we both screamed in terror and then took off running down the street.
““Don’t you want any candy?” we heard a scratchy voice call from the front porch of the creepy house. “Just keep running, I hollered to Gabe. “No, I think we should go back and see what is up with this place,” said Gabe. I wasn’t so sure. Gabe said that the person must care about the trick-or-treaters if he called out to us. “Yeah, he cares about kidnapping us,” I snapped back as we approached the front porch. “I have lots of chocolate,” said the man standing at the front door. His voice was very strange.
“As we stood on the front porch with our pillow cases open, I began to feel very funny. Gabe looked at me as if to say, it is ok, let’s just get some chocolate bars and get out of here. Gabe really likes his chocolate! “Would you like to come in?” asked the man in a rather odd voice. I wasn’t too sure we should go in such a creepy looking house. My legs began to shake. “What a great night for trick-or-treating,” said the man. His voice seemed to be as creepy as the house looked, and I leaned over and said to Gabe, “I’m scared.” “He’s got chocolate, it will be ok,” said Gabe. “Geez Gabe, you and your chocolate,” I said, rolling my eyes as we entered the house.
“As we entered the house, I looked inside and decided it might be o.k. until I heard, “let us out, let us out.” It sounded like it was coming from above and then I heard what sounded like fists pounding on the ceiling from above. Gabe and I both jerked around to run out of the house when the door slammed shut.
““Ahhhgggg!!” screamed Gabe and I, too frightened to say anything else. “Let’s go out the back door,” stammered Gabe.
“After five running steps, we were just one step away when someone from the outside flung the door open sending us flat on our faces. “What in the world,” I said, obviously confused to see a cornucopia of people dancing and having lots of fun. “Hey guys, what’s up?” Jacob asked.
“I was stunned to see my brother standing there. “Why are you here?” I asked Jacob. “This is my new friend’s house,” said Jacob. He introduced his new friend, Michael, to both of us.
““Don’t you think Michael did a great job in setting up his house for Halloween?” asked Jacob, with a huge grin on his face. “You mean all the moans and the door slamming shut was all planned ahead of time by Michael?” I asked. Jacob told us how Michael had talked about creating a really scary looking house since Halloweeen is one of his favorite holidays. “He certainly did a great job in scaring both of us,” I admitted. “Can we stay for the party?” I asked. “Hold on, I gotta ask Michael,” Jacob replied.
“Gabe and I did stay for a while longer. We eventually left and decided it had been a great Halloween. It was about 10:00 that night, and Gabe amd I were ready to turn in for the night. It had been a very memorable Halloween.
“The next morning, I woke up to find Gabe already laying on top of his sleeping bag with his eyes open staring at the T.V. “Wow”, that was some Halloween fun last night,” I said in a very tired voice. “Yeah, I thought it was pretty awesome,” replied Gabe. “Yeah, I hope nothing like that ever happens again, at least on Halloween,” I said as we started to watch Sportscenter.
