Code of Conduct

Welcome to the St. Joseph County Public Library. Our goal is to offer the best service possible to library visitors in an inviting environment. Each person can help by following these rules:
  1. Children under the age of seven must be under the direct supervision of a person over the age of thirteen.
  2. The following are not permitted on library property:
    • Weapons
    • Sleeping
    • Use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal substances
    • Abusive, threatening or obscene language
    • Begging, soliciting or sales are prohibited on library property
    • Gambling
    • Eating and drinking except in approved areas
    • Any form of sexual misconduct, including exposure, offensive touching or sexual harassment of other patrons or staff
    • Smoking is prohibited within fifty (50) feet of any library building entrance

  3. Persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not permitted on library property.
  4. Theft, damage or destruction of library property is a crime and will be prosecuted.
  5. Shirts and shoes are required while on library property.
  6. Inappropriate behavior, which disturbs other library users or staff, is not permitted.
  7. Any person who poses a health or sanitary risk or whose bodily hygiene constitutes a nuisance to other persons or damages library property shall be required to leave the premises.
The Library reserves the right to remove any person whose behavior is disruptive, is inappropriate for a library environment, or interferes with the use of the library by others.

Código de Conducta
Bienvenidos a la Biblioteca Pública del Condado de St. Joseph. Nuestro objetivo es ofrecer el mejor servicio posible en un entorno agradable a las personas que visitan la biblioteca. Todos pueden ayudar cumpliendo las siguientes normas:

1. Niños menores de siete (7) años deben ser supervisados directamente por una persona mayor de trece (13) años.

2. Lo siguientes no esta permitido en la biblioteca:

  • Armas
  • Dormir
  • El uso de tabaco, alcohol, o substancias tóxicas
  • Lenguaje abusivo, amenazante, y obsceno.
  • Se prohíbe mendigar, o vender dentro de la biblioteca.
  • Apostar
  • Comer y beber, excepto en áreas permitidas.
  • Cualquier tipo de ofensa sexual, incluyendo exposición, contactos ofensivos, o acoso sexual por clientes o empleados.
  • No se permite fumar dentro de los cincuenta (50) pies alrededor de la entrada de la biblioteca.

3. No se le permitirá el acceso a ninguna persona bajo la influencia de alcohol o drogas.

4. Robar, dañar, o destruir la propiedad de la biblioteca es un delito y será penado por la ley.

5. Se requiere usar camisa/blusa y zapatos mientras se encuentra en la biblioteca.

6. No se permiten comportamientos inapropiados que molesten a otros usuarios o empleados de la biblioteca.

7. Se expulsará a cualquier persona que suponga riesgos de salud, riesgos sanitarios o cuya higiene corporal  sea una molestia para otras personas o dañe la propiedad de la biblioteca.

La biblioteca se reserva el derecho de expulsar a cualquier persona con mal comportamiento, o que interfiera con el uso de la biblioteca de otras personas.
