English as a Second Language

  • Print collection includes dictionaries, books on idioms, government and citizenship, English grammar, phonics, life skills, and obtaining a driver's license

Tutor Training
  • Several multi-volume video sets focus on various aspects of teaching adults to read

Learning Disabilities
  • Videos and kits for use by students, teachers, parents
  • ADA Workstation with IBM computer software programs for the learning and physically disabled and the visually and hearing impaired

Physical Disabilities
  • Sign Language Videos and print materials for the deaf and hearing impaired
  • A TTY machine for operator relay and keyboard typed message to and from the deaf community
  • Descriptive Videos for the visually impaired. These are feature length movies with trained actors describing non-voiced film segments
  • Materials in Braille are also available for loan
  • Talking Book Collection of audiocassettes from the Indiana State Library for patrons registered for this service to the blind and visually impaired
  • Journals and magazines for caregivers of the visually and hearing impaired and the learning disabled
  • Videos and print material for caregivers of the elderly and homebound
  • Bi-Folkal Activity Kits on holiday and other recreational themes that reminisce about life and activities in earlier decades
