William Tourtillotte

Allen Mural"Knowledge" by Artist, William Tourtillotte: Mr. Tourtillotte is a visiting Assistant Professor of Art in Painting and Drawing at the University of Notre Dame. He received his B. F. A. at the Cleveland Institute and his M. F. A. at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI. He has exhibited regionally and nationally and has an upcoming exhibition at the John G. Blank Center for the Arts in Michigan City. He was co-instructor for the 5th and 6th grade mural, "This is My Neighborhood - No Shooting Allowed!"

Mr. Tourtillotte wrote the following poem about his painting "Knowledge":

A visual deposition                           thinking as form
Love of learning                              book, letter
Fascination with fact                         sight, sound
Desire, acquire knowledge.                    analog, digital
                                              neighborhood, globalhood
Ask a question, sow a seed                    value, hue, harmony and
scratch, unearth                              discord
water, weed
time + space + atmosphere                     Question. Knowledge 
meditation. distillation.

Here is Bill Tourtillotte putting the final touches to his wall mural titled "Knowledge" which will be permantently displayed on the high northwest wall, first floor, of the Main Library.
